This does not mean that we drink less than 8 cups of water per day. A diet high in alcohol and sodium can often compensate for what appears to be adequate water intake.

Research suggests that you can lose more weight by drinking half of your body weight in ounces each day. Lipase is an enzyme that must be activated by your body to mobilize fat. It is best to get rid of it. Water is an essential component in activating lipase.
Water Helps Your Workouts Improve On A Cellular Level
Water is essential for healthy cells. Drinking enough water will help you exercise at a cellular level. Studies show that prolonged endurance exercise is most affected by dehydration.
Proper hydration is also important to maximize your workouts. However, don't drink your entire water bottle right before you start your session. Hydration is key to performance in all forms of exercise. However, drinking water prior to a workout can make you feel sluggish and lose focus. To get closer to your peak performance, drink a glass of water between 20 and 30 minutes before you start your next workout. If necessary, take small sips all the way through.
Water is also important for your body's energy storage and regulation. Water is required to bond with glycogen in order to make an energy reserve in your muscles (called ATP). You are less able to store energy without water because you have less oxygen in your muscle, less blood flow when dehydrated and less delivery and bonding glycogen to make the energy you need. Also, drink enough water to keep you energized.

It can cause severe skin damage if you are extremely dehydrated. In severe cases of dehydration, skin may lose some of its elasticity and take on a "tenting effect." Although there is no evidence to show that water can make a difference in skin, water will go straight to your essential organs first. However, many people report glowing skin and clearer skin after increasing their water intake. It doesn't hurt to drink water. You will also be preventing severe dehydration such as dry, tight or itchy skin.
You Will Stop Retaining Excess Fluid Around Your Eyes
Under-eye puffiness can cause a noticeable difference in skin texture. Drinking high-sodium foods, especially at night, and not drinking enough water can cause excess fluids to build up around your eyes. This can lead to more puffiness under the eyes.
Being hydrated can reduce puffiness around the eyes. Bottom line: Water is vital for maintaining a healthy body. However, water can also help reduce under-eye puffiness.
How Much Water Should We Drink To Stay Hydrated?
To calculate how much water you require, divide your weight by half and then drink the resulting amount in ounces. If you are 140 lbs, you will need to consume 70 ounces daily.
You don't have to drink water if you aren't a fan of water. However, you can hydrate with water-rich foods. The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine recommends a daily intake of 125 ounces per day for men and 91 for women. These numbers refer to your total fluid intake and include any food containing water such as fruits or vegetables. You can infuse a water bottle (we love lemonwater) with fruits or vegetables to make your own spa water. Or, you can add a shot glass or two of juice to a 10-ounce bottle to give it a little more flavor. This will result in significantly lower sugar than consuming the juice by itself.
